Radio V, side A, track 7: “Never Tear Us Apart” by INXS

Oh, INXS, I’m just gonna come right out and say it.  If you sang this song to me, well, let’s just say I’d be really flattered and we’ll leave it at that.  Seriously, INXS, one of the big regrets of my childhood is that I didn’t harness the power of this song.  Had I learned the words, had I practiced singing it and mimicking the vocals, had I learned to play the saxophone (and I did learn how to play the saxophone, INXS, just not well), had I done all of these things and performed this song to a girl, it wouldn’t have mattered that I had a mullet and gigantic glasses and acne and unfortunate teeth.  There’s a reason that facially questionable musicians date supermodels, INXS, and this song is Exhibit A.

“Never Tear Us Apart

Don’t ask me
What you know is true
Don’t have to tell you
I love your precious heart

I
I was standin’
You were there
Two worlds collided
And they could never tear us apart

We could live
For a thousand years
But if I hurt you
I’d make wine from your tears

I told you
That we could fly
‘Cause we all have wings
But some of us don’t know why

I was standin’
You were there
Two worlds collided
And they could never, ever tear us apart

<awesome saxophone solo>

I (don’t ask me)
I was standin’ (you know it’s true)
Mm, you were there (worlds collided)
Two worlds collided (we’re shining through)
And they could never tear us apart

You (don’t ask me)
You were standin’ (you know it’s true)
I was there (worlds collided)
Two worlds collided (we’re shining through)
And they could never tear us apart
