Radio XLVIII, side A, track 12: “Best Of What I Got” by Bad English

Bad English - Best Of What I GotOh, Bad English, this is kinda bittersweet, ain’t it?  This was the last track on what was probably the best Hot New Music Hour that I ever taped off the radio.  But like your song says, my radio station gave me the best of what they got.  Including this awesome song that’s basically all about having sex.  I totally didn’t get any of that when I first heard this song, Bad English.  Now I see that it basically permeates this thing.  Morning sex, sex when you get home from work, you and your lady friend are apparently doing it all the time.  Although I do wonder if she’s quite as into it as you are.  For example, this whole thing about you rising and shining and waking her up and moving her without warning?  I’m not saying I’m as experienced as you guys are, Bad English, but when it comes to sex in the morning, I’m pretty sure that you need to give her a little warning.  Also, does telling a woman “Let me put my key in your door” really work?  If it does, good for you guys, but I just don’t see that it would.  And also, this whole thing about rockin’ the neighborhood when you come home at night?  Please keep your windows closed.  Because all you’re going to do is get my dogs agitated and probably also make me look bad in front of my wife since when I get home all I want to do is watch “The Young and The Restless” and go to bed.  Which is the best of what I got.

Ow!

Oh yeah

If you wanna put a message through ma heart
Shoot the arrow in the mornin’

Ay

I’m gonna rise and shine an’ wake you up
An’ move you without warnin’

Call my name
I understand
The reason fo desiya

The band’a gold I give ta you

Be the ring’a fiya

Ay

Somethin’ in yo kiss that lasts
Forevahh

Burnin’ in the heat fo you

Love you ’round the clock

You get the best of what I got

Oh yeah

Gonna work all day ta buy you pretty things
‘Cause you’re such a pretty girl

You can work me overtime
Knock me out
Got my senses in a whirl

Like a locomotive burnin’ down the track
Yo my destination

One on one
And kiss fo kiss

Yo my fascination

Somethin’ in yo touch that holds
The promise

Ay

You got me feelin’ all shook up

Love you ’round the clock

You get the best of what I got

Oh yeah

Put my key
Inside yo do
Feels so good

When I come home at night

We’re rockin’ the neighborhood
Rockin’ the neighborhood

<awesome Bad English jam>

Somethin’ thatcha read about
In headliiines

Hey

I feel the heat f’you
I wanna rock you ’round the clock

You get the best

You get the best of what I got

Ohhh yeah

You get the best of what I got

Ow

I wanna love you ’round the clock (best of what I got)

Oh

You get the best of what I got (best of what I got)

Ow

That’s right

I wanna love you ’round the clock (best of what I got)
