Radio 59, side A, track 4: “C’mon And Get My Love” by D-Mob and Cathy Dennis

C-mon and Get My Love - Dmob and Cathy DennisOh, D-Mob and Cathy Dennis, I didn’t think I remembered this song, but then I hit Play and I TOTALLY remembered it.  I used to sing along with this one all the damn time.  Of course, at the time I thought that the name of the song was “Tumblin’ In My Love”, which I’ll be honest, sounds better.  It always made me think of the soothing sounds of a dryer and the Snuggle bear, who I wanted to own.  I think I could actually buy him now.  I’m actually surprised that I haven’t.

Where was I?

Right, so anyway, all the relaxing, pleasant thoughts associated with this song were actually wrong since I heard the lyrics incorrectly.  That’s all right, though.  Even without Snuggle it’s still a great song.  And I totally forgot that I remembered that part with the guy casually chatting.  I LOVED that part.  I used to say that ALL the time, usually when I was out feeding the cows.  I think what I enjoyed about it was that it was so matter-of-fact.  Matter-of-fact is generally not a word associated with love songs.  So I liked the idea that you could just be talking to a girl and tell her, real casual-like, “Let’s just say that our love is strong” and “‘Cause I wanna kiss ya and a’hold ya, tell ya that I love ya, every single night” and have it not be this momentous thing, but just a straight-up fact that brooks no argument.  That is bad-ASS, D-Mob and Cathy Dennis!  You might need to apologize to my wife, because I have a feeling I’m going to be quoting these lyrics over and over and over for the next month or so in that same too-cool-for-school way, except it won’t sound cool at all, especially since I’ll be saying it constantly.  It’s fine, though.  I’ll just play her this song, she’ll immediately understand, and all will be forgiven.

“C’mon And Get My Love”
