Radio 67, side A, track 9: “Hippychick” by Soho

Hippychick - SohoOh, Soho, I had no idea what this song was about.  I didn’t even know its title.  Usually I could take a guess but in this case, I even left the line where your title should be blank on the cassette tape insert.  I thought you were singing “No images”.  Were it not for Google and plugging in some of the random lyrics I was able to catch as I was listening to this one again after forever, I still wouldn’t know what this song was or who sang it.  Luckily we’re living in an age of magic, so I solved those mysteries.  Even better, this song is more awesome now than I remember it being.

  1. Yes. I’m so glad you revealed this long forgotten nugget of genius. Sampling The Smiths, of course. I always loved the lyric ‘just try to think about yourself the way that I see you’. But then there’s …’something about a motorbike’ and ‘loving you since the miner strike’ um… don’t overthink it!
