Oh, Joe Jackson, this song confused the hell out of me. I don’t think I’d ever heard it before I recorded it off the radio in 2013, but it’s one of those songs that feels so familiar, clearly I HAD to have heard it somewhere before, right? Even more confusing, I initially thought this was Sugar Ray. Even MORE confusing, Sugar Ray did a cover of this. Even EVEN MORE confusing, this song was made in 1979, and when I first heard it I assumed it was a recent release that was one of many that had flown under my radar. Bottom line, Joe Jackson, I was very confused by this song.
On the positive side, this song is all kinds of amazing. So at the end of the day, it really doesn’t matter who sang it or when it was released. The only thing that matters is that you’ve perfectly captured the frustration of watching gorillas walking with pretty women. There’s definitely something goin’ on ’round here.
