Oh, Journey, I remember exactly where I was the first time I heard this song. I was a freshman in college in the living room of our apartment-style dorm (I somehow got into the honors dorm even though I wasn’t an honors student, I don’t know what happened). One of my roommates and I, we actually knew each other from high school and randomly happened to live together in the dorm, he and I fell in love with the same girl fairly early on in the school year. So anyway, he and I were in the living room, him on this black pleather couch, me sitting on the floor and we were listening to you, Journey, and this song came on and he started talking about how amazing it would be to lay next to this girl while this song was playing. I wholeheartedly agreed. I think that’s the moment when we agreed it would be all right if we both pursued her and no hard feelings to whoever actually got to listen to this song with her. And we know how that turned out. You can imagine what it felt like to hear this song drifting out underneath the door when he and her were in his room together. It wouldn’t have been so bad but this song is so goddamn amazing, Journey. Thanks a whole helluva lot.
