Radio 56, side B, track 8: “Up Where We Belong” by Jennifer Warnes and Joe Cocker

Joe Cocker and Jennifer WarnesOh, Jennifer Warnes and Joe Cocker, so I compromised.  Instead of recording every song on the countdown again after I discovered they were going to re-play the whole damn thing, I decided to just record the songs that got messed up the first time.  As you’ll likely remember, there were several songs that were cursed with bad static, and let’s be honest, I wouldn’t have been able to face the ’90s knowing I didn’t have a cleaner version of these songs on my tapes.  I still don’t know what happened to the #86 song, but at least I had an excuse to record this one again.

“Up Where We Belong”

Who
Knows what tomorrow brings

In a world
Few hearts survive

All I know
Is the way I feel

When it’s real
I keep it alive

The road

Is long

There are mountains
In our way

But we climb
A step
Every day

Love lift us up where we belong

Where the eagles cry

On a mountain high

Love lift us up where we belong

Far from the world below

Where the clear winds blow

Some

Hang on to “used to be”

Live their lives

Lookin’ behind

All we have

Is here and now
All our life

Out there to find

The road

Is long

There are mountains
In our way

But we climb
A step
Every day

Love lift us up where we belong

Where the eagles cry

On a mountain high

Love lift us up where we belong

Far from the world below

Where the clear winds blow

Time goes by

Nooo time ta cry

Life’s you and I

Alive
Today

Love lift us up where we belong

Where the eagles cry

On a mountain high

Love lift us up where we belong

Far from the world we know

Where the clear winds blow

Love lift us up where we belong

Where the eagles cry

On a mountain high
